วันนี้เอาตัวอย่าง essay BJM สำหรับสอบข้อเขียนวารสารอินเตอร์ ธรรมศาสตร์มาฝากกัน ซึ่งนี่เป็นแนวข้อสอบจริงที่ใช้ในปีนี้นะคะ จะมีแบบนี้ 2 ข้อ ให้เวลา 3 ชั่วโมง ดังนั้น 1 ข้อใช้ 90 นาที ถือว่าเป็นเวลาที่มากพอสมควร ซึ่งน้องๆก็ไม่ควรเขียนน้อยเกินไปนะคะ เอาให้ได้ซักประมาณ 1.5-2 หน้ากระดาษน่าจะเพียงพอกับเวลาที่กำหนดให้
น้องๆต้องจำว่า เรื่องที่น้องๆจะตอบไปไม่ควรเป็นเรื่องแบนๆที่ไม่มีความลึกซึ้งในการตอบเลยนะคะ ยกตัวอย่างเช่นข้อนี้เค้าถามเรื่องปัจจุบัน แต่น้องอาจจะเกริ่นถึงอดีตขึ้นมาก่อน เพื่อเป็นการเปรียบเทียบให้ชัดเจนว่าเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลง หรือวิวัฒนาการอย่างไรมาบ้างก่อนมาถึงปัจจุบัน นอกจากทำให้เรื่องมีความลึกซึ้งแล้ว ก็ยังทำให้น้องได้คำเพ่ิมเติมด้วยค่ะ
สำหรับเทคนิคอีกอย่างที่สำคัญก็คือน้องๆจะต้องใช้ภาษาให้หลากหลาย ปล. หลากหลายไม่เหมือนยากนะคะ คำว่าหลากหลาย ยกตัวอย่างเช่น ปกติแล้วคนมักใช้ประโยคที่ขึ้นด้วย ประธานตามด้วยกริยา หากเราสามารถเขียนให้ประโยคขึ้นต้นด้วยอย่างอื่นเช่น adv. หรือ conjunction บ้างก็จะทำให้น่าสนใจ
สิ่งสุดท้ายคือคำศัพท์ น้องๆต้องมีศัพท์หลากหลาย เช่นกันค่ะ ไม่ใช่ยากนะคะ เช่นถ้าน้องเก็งไว้ว่าข้อสอบessay น่าจะออกประเภทข้อดี ข้อเสียเป็นส่วนใหญ่ น้องก็อาจจะต้องมีคำที่เหมือนคำว่า benefit กับ drawbackไว้อย่างละ 5-6 คำ จะได้ไม่เขียนซ้ำไปมา เป็นต้น

In few years, what are types of communication filed that we have been seeing? In the near future, what do you expect the trend to be?
In the past, with not many choices to consume media, people might be familiar with radio and television which are considered the most common types of mass media in the last century. They are able to educate people from different areas to receive the same source of information. Even in the rural area where people cannot afford television, radio can at least provide news and entertainment for local people. No one can deny that these sources of information have been improving audiences’ lives and just in some few decades ago that the advanced technology has brought people “cable TV” that allow citizen worldwide to perceive the same media. No matter how far away you are from the source, live broadcasting on cable TV will fast deliver the news to your house. Or in case you are a big fan of Premier League Football, you can be sure that you will not miss any of the matches – only make sure that you can wake up at 3 am sometimes!
However, as time passes by, we figure out that the same old kind of mass media like radio and TV have some flaws. The most notorious one is that it is a one-way communication which audiences can only watch it without giving feedback to what they have heard or watched. One good example of this drawback might be when we see some bias in TV report. If the channel or reporter is not ethical, information consumers might be misled by fault news.
Luckily, today we have more options to communicate with the world. In the past 20 years, Internet has been brought to us and it has made a radical change to mankind. In business, no other media will be faster and more convenient than Internet to use in trading, conferencing, or communication. In education, students in remote areas can learn the same lessons students in big cities learn via educational website. And of course, in communication, Internet has changed the way we consume information. From being only the audiences, now we can generate our opinion to the website we read. Therefore, Internet is a true source of two-way communication that enhance globalization and eliminate every barrier in the world. Ranging from web board and blog in the past, now the pattern of Internet usage is going toward “social network” where people can share their ideas unlimitedly. Today, everyone seems to know social network tool like “Facebook” or “Twitter”. It would be very hard to walk on the street and find someone who barely knows these two websites. Using Facebook, you can connect your old friends from kindergarten whom you have never seen for ages. Similarly, twitter would allow you to follow any persons who twit real time which will make you update all information in your interest.
Not only does social network gives you general benefits like reuniting you with your old colleagues, but it can also change the community, to be exact, the country you live in. For instance, the civil wars in Libya and many other African and Arab countries were ignited by a group of Black Berry and Facebook users who, in the past, have never been allowed to give political opinions anywhere. Because these types of communication are sometimes difficult to be controlled by the government, citizen are more free to participate in some idea sharing which finally causes the political turmoil in the country.
Like the swords having two edges, Internet also brings about cons to the society. Being too wide open to public comments, the Internet often gives unreliable sources of information. For example, business rivals may use “seeding” to promote their products and service and at the same time to accuse others of untrue frauds. Hence, to believe the information in the Internet, it largely depends on users’ maturity to separate the truth from delusion.
In summary, with the unexpected growth of communication field happening in the past few decades, it will be too challenge to forecast what might come in the the next decades or two. However, assumably, the way of the future communication field might be very similar to what we are using now – something that can generate idea and contribute to users worldwide and concurrently can receive feedbacks live. The only difference or improvement shall be the power to limit any fallacy in those communication channels – to make the media fast, trustworthy, and available for everyone. (737 words)
