การใช้ Allow, Suppose, Forbid, Let

วันนี้เราจะมาเรียนรู้หลัก grammar ในเรื่องการใช้ Allow, Suppose, Forbid, Let ว่ามีความแตกต่างกันอย่างไร
การใช้ Allow
ใช้ allow หรือ permit ในความหมาย ” อนุญาต”
1. ใช้ allow, permit + กรรม + to + กริยาแท้ช่อง 1 เช่น
- Wendy allowed mee to use her study to read some book.
- Most companies don’t allow employees to smoke in the workplace.
- Wendy doesn,t allow Was to have pets in her house.
2. ใช้ allow, permit + กริยา-ing ในกรณีไม่มีกรรม เช่น
- Employees don’t allow smoking in the workplace.
- Wes doesn’t allow having pets in Wendy’s house.
3. ใช้ verb to be + allowed + to + กริยาแท้ช่อง 1 ในรูป passive เช่น
- People aren’t allowed to cultivate opium in this country.
- Youth shouldn’t be allowed to make arbitrary decisions.
- Should people be allowed to have pythons as pets ?
หมายเหตุ อาจไม่ต้องมี to ได้ ถ้ารูปประโยคไม่ต้องการ to เช่น
- Smoking isn’t allowed in the workplace.
- Warren isn’t allowed on the boat because he can’t swim.
การใช้ Suppose
ใช้ suppose ในความหมายเหมือนน should แต่เป็นการสั่งห้ามว่าไม่ควรทำ ถ้าทำจะมีความผิด หรือเป็นการไม่สมควร
ใช้ verb to be + supposed + to + กริยาแท้ช่อง 1 ในรูป active เช่น
- You aren’t supposed to park your car in a No Parking zone.
- Wes isn’t supposed to tell a repulsive story while we’re eating.
- You’re supposed to walk your dog with a leash. (ควรทำ)
- How am I supposed to live without you ? (ใช้ในความหมาย should แบบทั่วไป ไม่ใช่การบอกกล่าวหรือสั่งห้าม)
การใช้ Forbid
ใช้ forbid หรือ prohibit ในการสั่งห้ามที่รุนแรง เช่น
- It’s forbidden to reproduce without permission.
- Playing Chinese crackers is forbidden in this area.
- Reproducing without permission is prohibited.
- People are prohibited from playing Chinese crackers in this area.
การใช้ Let
ใช้ let + กรรม (ไม่มี to) ในความหมาย “ปล่อยให้, อนุญาต” เช่น
- Let me make my own decisions.
- They won’t let Warren on the boat because he can’t swim.
